The Concert for Bangladesh is famous a Concert of Charité initiated by George Harrison, high-speed motorboat pop - Rock.

In November 1970, the Bangladesh is struck by a storm which causes the death of 300  000 with 500  000  people, plunging the country in a total misery, already struck by a generalized misery. At the beginning of 71, of many Bengali are massacred in Pakistan, some speak about genocide. The Bengali try to reach Bengal Oriental which belongs to Pakistan, they must cross Indian ground 1500km without water nor food, the humane catastrophe is moving. Moved by the width by the catastrophe, George Harrison - which one knows already the interest for the Indian Sous-continent - organizes, at the request of Ravi Shankar, the 1971 with the Madison Square Garden of New York a concert with the profit of the famished population, it is the first true concert of charity of the history.

The concert begins with Bangla Dhun an Indian air of more than 17 minutes interpreted by Ravi Shankar, thus before entering the rock'n'roll part of the Shankar concert gives the tone by using the culture of circumstance even if the public present is not forcing accustomed to this kind. It is of course George Harrison who dominates the rock'n'roll part but all the same 9 titles are interpreted by other artists. Billy Preston sings That' S The Way God Planned It, Ringo with the great joy of the public sings It Don' T Like Easy, while Leon Russell carries out small a medley Jumpin' Jack Flash (in the beginning it is a song of Stones) /Youngblood (song of Coasters).

It results from it a album in the form of box which enables us successively to hear George Harrison and her guests - Ravi Shankar, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann among most known.

It is certainly the first initiative which showed that the high-speed motorboats of the music could be mobilized for another thing that their career.
