Concepción lagoon
The lagoon Concepción is located in the Province of Chiquitos of the Département of Santa Cruz, in Bolivia.
Description
It is composed of a lagoon whose bottom is papered of white sand, and of related marshes. It is surrounded by a plane surface of wood and undergrowth with the defective drainage. It is 25 km long on 10 km broad and has a surface of roughly 200 km ². It seems that it is a tectonic lagoon. The water level is with 255 meters of altitude. Its coordinates are southern 17°31' and western 61°21'.
Access road
The Concepción lagoon is to 150 km in the east of the town of Santa Cruz. It is located very close to the Serranía Chiquitana , which consists of a series of modest rises, frequent in the Bolivian Chaco. It is also to 25 km of the locality of Quimome, where and the train " stops passes; Santa Cruz - Puerto Suárez - Brazil " , which facilitates the access to the tourists in search of excursions.
Hydrology
It is fed by the Río Quimome, itself emissary of the Bañados del Izozog. It has two emissary. The first, the Río San Miguel constitutes the higher course of the río Itonamas, the second being the Río San Julián. It thus forms part of the chain which goes from the Río Parapetí until the Río Guaporé, tributary of a tributary of the the Amazon
Ecology
She was declared site Ramsar the May 6th 2002, on a surface of 31.124 hectares.
