Concentration camp of Fürstengrube
The concentration camp of Fürstengrube was one of largest external camps the depending on Auschwitz. It was located at Fürstengrube (in Polish Wesoła ), to 5 km in the south-west of Myslowitz in High-Silesia.
This camp was built in September 1943 like camp of work of the Coal mine of Fürstengrube.
The January 19th 1945 took place the evacuation of the camp in front of the projection of the Russian troops. The 1.283 prisoners remaining started a " Walk of dead the " under the command of last ordering camp, the SS-Oberscharführer max Schmidt, which occupied this function since March 1944.
The 400 surviving prisoners were placed on the ship Cape Arcona which was run by RAF the May 3rd 1945 in bay of Lübeck.
