Short summary of the history

Shinichi Kudo is pupil in first with the college Teitan (pun with the Japanese word used to say detective: Tantei). To have solved several difficult investigations, it is considered by much as the most invaluable assistance that the Japanese police force could hope for . One day, at the time of an exit with his friend Ran Mouri in an amusement park, and after having solved a business of murder, he notices the strange behavior men vêtus of black who were previously on the spot of the solved crime. By curiosity and intuition, Shinichi follows them and understands that they are Masters singers. These men having discovered Shinichi, they make him drink an experimental poison to make it conceal. The effect is unexpected: its body renovates, but its faculties of detective remain unchanged. Shinichi, helped by its neighbor the Professor Agasa (Agasa Hakase in the Japanese version), brilliant and eccentric inventor, decides to leave to research the secret organization of which it was victim. Shinichi hiding place its true identity under the pseudonym of Conan Edogawa (of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and of Edogawa Ranpo), and takes refuge at Ran, whose father still little known, Kogoro Mouri, put himself on his account as a private detective after having left the police force. Shinichi finds really unjust the fact that, adult, everyone listened to it, and that child, one does not grant any moment to him or it can solve a business. It solves the businesses much more quickly than the father of Ran, but it is obliged to wait the good moment to make so that Mouri includes/understands its " " point of view of; without drawing the attention to him…

Since the arrival of Conan, Mouri starts to be increasingly famous. Indeed, regularly, when Conan finally elucidated the mystery of a business on which Mouri works, he deadens this last with a gadget manufactured by Agasa included in his watch, which can fire a hypodermic projectile. He hides then, and, thanks to his bow tie (another gadget of Agasa), takes the voice of Kogoro (It also happens that Conan is obliged to take someone else). Kogoro Mouri is thus called the " detective endormi" (Nemuri No Kogoro in Japanese), because of its dormant air while it " résout" a business. Kogoro and Ran do not know the true identity of Conan. Also, when Conan makes a deduction in public, Ran is astonished. Conan often draws some by a pirouette, while Mouri is irritated because it finds that a child does not have to be on the spot of a crime nor to try to solve them…

It is about a group of young students of primary education, impassioned mysteries and adventures. The arrival of Conan in their class was the element release for the creation of their group. In Japanese, the name of their school is “Teitan” (Tantei, detective, with the two reversed syllables). To return this word game, the French translators invited it “Tivedétec”, inversion of “detective” (the original name Teitan is included later in the series).
  • Sonoko Suzuki (鈴木園子 Suzuki Sonoko ): the best friend of Ran, it is a a little insane girl who especially thinks of attracting the boys. Sonoko is the person that Conan deadens and makes generally pass for detective after Kogoro.

  • Kazuha Tooyama (遠山和葉 Tooyama Kazuha ): Also coming from the Kansai, this young girl tests a love towards Heiji (which, just like for the couple Ran/Shinichi, they dare neither one nor the other to acknowledge their feelings). • Kid imperceptible the : (怪盗キッド Kaitō Kid ) burglar largely inspired of Arsene Lupin, it uses his talents of disguise and Prestidigitation to arrive at his ends. Incorrigible joker, Kid sends even to the Japanese police force, in coded language, the place and the date of his future flights which it generally restores. Rival of Conan (with which it shares an astonishing physical resemblance), Kid regularly makes interventions in the manga.
  • the organization of the men in black (黒の組織 Kuro No Soshiki ): The mysterious organization appears to be in fact, with the wire of the history, a large network of criminals. At this days, are or were known Gin and Vodka, the two assistants who made drink the poison with Shinichi; Vermouth whose true name is Chris Vinyard (actually, the actress Sharon Vinyard, friend of the mother of Shinichi does only one with the character of its daughter), celebrates American actress; Kir, Chianti and Korn, last newcomers; and finally Tequila, Pisco and Calvados, members now dead. The organization is directed by the " Boss" , character of which no one knows neither name nor face.
  • the agent Jodie Sterling (Jodie St Emilion) : This mysterious woman is the English teacher of Ran, Conan supposes it member of the organization (what its name carries to believe since the Saint-émilion is a wine). In the French translation, the Sterling agent is the daughter-in-law of Sharon Vinyard and consequently the half-sister of Chris Vinyard (Vermouth). But in the original version, his/her father, agent of the FBI which inquired closely into Vermouth and the Organization, was killed by Vermouth, as well as the mother of Jodie, and their murder made up in accident by the fire of the house of Starling. Jodie which miraculeusement had miraculeusement survived, and which had met the mysterious woman this night, was placed in a program of protection of the witnesses by friends of his late father. While growing, it kept the revenge on her parents for it and became in its turn member of the FBI under the name of Jodie Saint-émilion, actively seeking the woman who had killed her parents. Actually it does not seem that Jodie appears in animates in France, but in the manga, it is mentioned as of volume 26, by the classmates of Ran and Shinichi.

Anecdotes

  • There are notable differences in the version animated compared to the manga:
    • At the end of each episode, after the credits, is shown an index for the enigma of the following episode ( " Next Conan' S Hint" ).
    • the gushing of blood of certain murders is replaced by an light effect.
  • In the United States, the manga is famous Case Closed (" Classée" business;) because the name of " Conan" was retained by royalties for Conan the adventurer , although Conan can be a normal first name.
    • In this version, the majority of the main characters have names changed into anglophone names. Shinichi Kudo becomes Jimmy Kudo , Ran Mouri becomes Rachel Moore, Kogoro Mouri becomes Richard Moore, Sonoko Suzuki becomes Serena Sebastian, Heiji Hattori becomes Harley Hartwell, Eri Kizaki becomes Eva Kaden, Have Haibara becomes Anita Hailey… curiously, all the other characters (suspect, etc) keep their Japanese names, which can create a certain shift.
  • In an episode of the animated version, Conan deduces that an explosion cannot be caused by TNT (of the Dynamite in the original version) because it does not feel odor of Gunpowder. False thing, dynamite does not release this odor. That undermined the credibility of the series when it was diffused in the United States.
  • In an episode, Conan meets the singer Minami Takayama, who makes the voice of Conan in animated and which is the woman of the mangaka Gosho Aoyama in the true life. A gag in the episode concerns the similarity of their voices (since they are consequently made actress).
  • televised series Tokusatsu of fiction is mentioned from time to time in the series: Kamen Yaiba . It is of course inspired by Kamen Rider . However, if this series is often mentioned in the series, it is in reference to the first manga of the author putting in scene the character of Yaiba.
    • Appears also a pastiche of Godzilla being called " Gomera". One also finds a factory of Video game which is called curiously… " Mantendo ".
