The computo-représentationelle approach of the spirit, known as also assumption cognitivist, is one of the two paradigms dominating of the cognitive Sciences contemporary. It rests on the following principles:
- the representation mental can be described by their informational contents.
- the operations of the spirit can be translated in a realizable logical language by a Machine of Turing. This principle answers the acceptance of the computer as a tool of simulation and handling symbolic system, principle posed with the creation of the cognitive Sciences.
This approach poses the assumption that the human intelligence is comparable to a finished whole of complex rules and that
each operation of the nervous system is identical to a sequence of elementary operations
One often summarizes this approach with the metaphor of the brain-computer.
