Computerized system of collection of data

Network SIREDO ( System computerized of collection of data ) includes/understands approximately 3000 stations of collection of measurements SOL2 which were deployed by the State as from the years 1990 on the whole of the highway network and highway national.

Various other tools of transmission, concentration, presentation of the data, take part in SIREDO. This system of collection and the associated network of maintenance is organized in a pyramidal way (department, area, national).

A station SIREDO SOL2 is an element of the national system of information on the road traffic. It is road dynamic equipment, been subject to standards of communication and the rules EQUIDYN which allow a Interopérabilité between all the equipment and all the manufacturers who respect these standards.

The software MELODY can be connected automatically and dialog with the various equipment of system SIREDO (SOL2, SEMI), collect measurements, and feeds and maintains a base local of measurements road and configurations of the equipment.

The software ARPEGGIO allows statistical processing on the database consisted MELODY

The concentrators (MID- Module of Intercommunication) are located at the regional level in a CRICR, a CIGT or a dealer of Autoroute to toll: SEMI recovers the Mesures of traffic worked out by the stations SOL2 of its area (highway network and highway), stores these data and repeats them or the access to other partners allows some, thus playing the part of collector, manager, diffuser and waiter of information. The association of the whole of the regional bases is carried out automatically by interconnection of the SEMI, about thirty currently, and constitutes the national data base; it is possible to visualize in real-time of the whole of the French road traffic

Operation

SOL2 is composed of a box UMT (Measuring unit and Transmissions) associated to UD (unit of Detection).

The majority of the current UD consist of sensor-detectors with electromagnetic loops placed under the roadway, connected to the UMT, itself generally connected via a modem to a central data-processing station exploited by the Center of engineering and management of the traffic (CIGT) and/or by the departmental Cellule of exploitation and safety (CDES).

The electromagnetic loop of presence consists of some whorls (from 2 to 4) of ordinary copper cable. This loop is the inductive part of an oscillating circuit maintained and contained in detector (UD). When a vehicle passes to the vertical of the loop, its metal parts moving modify the inductance of the loop, which varies the characteristics of the oscillation. This makes it possible to locate precisely when the vehicle enters and when it leaves the zone of detection. Certain special loops react to the only passages of axles, others have a geometry and a sensitivity such as an analysis of form of the produced signal allows, by comparison with a library, to identify the type of vehicle.

The installation of sensors with loops is distinguished on the roadway by cutting from a rectangle from approximately two meters out of one meter fifty (near total of the width of the ways) and on a depth from approximately seven centimetres.

Possible information

In addition to simple road counting, other information can be elaborate according to the type and the number of sensor used by the UD in the station:

  • the number of Axle X;

  • the type of vehicle (drunk, truck, car, etc);
  • throughput speed;
  • the spacing vehicle;
  • the weight by axle;
  • the travelling total weight;
etc

Moreover, one temporary counting using pneumatic tubes nailed on the roadway makes it possible to supplement in ARPEGGIO the statistical data on the total traffic.
