Computer of diving

A computer of plunged makes it possible to optimize its time of diving by calculating decompression automatically to be realized by the plunger.

The calculation of decompression by the Tables of decompression (MN90, PADI, etc) consists in modelling a “rectangular” diving. I.e. the tables consider that between the moment when the plunger started its descent and the moment when it will start its increase, it remained with the maximum depth reached on the interval.

The computer of diving, on the contrary, will cut out the diving in sections of time and, for each section, will calculate the saturation of nitrogen fabrics. Of this saturation and a mathematical model, the computer calculates decompression to be carried out by the plunger.

Contribution of the computer

The computer of diving makes it possible to calculate decompression according to the external factors (according to the models). For example:

  • Temperature of water
  • Breathlessness of the plunger (for the computers with management of air)
  • Autonomy of air (consumption)
  • Altitude (case of the diving in mountain, for example)
  • Density of the medium (fresh water or sea water)

It can also allow:

  • To measure the speed of increase and to alert the plunger in the event of too fast increase
  • To indicate the remaining time of diving before needing to carry out stages of decompression
  • To indicate the depth of the stages
  • To indicate the going beyond depth of the stage
  • To alert on the use of procedures of increase nonin conformity with the model of decompression envisaged by the computer

It should be noted that it is also possible, on certain models, to download the data of the diving on its desktop machine. That makes it possible to keep a history of the divings carried out, and to manage an electronic notebook of diving. This notebook can be divided via Internet via a Web site such as scubadata.

The Council of use

The computer of diving is based on standard protocols of decompression and statistical studies. According to the physical profile of the plungers and the characteristics of the diving, it can be important to select a profile of penalization to avoid any accident.

Types of computer

  • Air, computer which takes into account only the divings carried out with air.

  • Nitrox, computer able to manage mixtures superoxygenated in addition to the air.
  • All-gas
  • , computer able to manage several gases during the same diving. For example a technical plunger which uses at the beginning of its diving a Nitrox 32, followed by a Trimix 5/40 and to finish Nitrox 70.
  • Gestion of air, functionality which makes it possible the computer to measure the remaining quantity of air. It is about a gauge of high pressure which either is connected by a pipe high pressure to the computer, or which transmits by waves radios the pressure to the computer. The management of air makes it possible to calculate the remaining autonomy and of raising alarms of breathlessness.
  • different Algorithms (RGBM, Bühlmann, etc), advanced functionality which makes it possible to choose the model of decompression used by the plunger.
