This article describes the hypoderme as a deep layer of the skin. See also the page of homonymy Hypoderme.

The hypoderme is the deep layer of the Peau. Easily deformable, it is composed of conjunctive fabrics fat and and with for role to be used as interface between the Derme and the mobile structures located in lower part of him (Muscle S, tendon S…). It also protects the organization from the shocks and is used as fat reserve.

The hypoderme has a variable thickness according to the localizations (thin with the face, thick with the buttocks). It accounts for 15 to 30% of the body weight. It is also a thermal coat.

The cellulitis is not an excess of grease but an ignition of fat fabric by infiltration of toxin and liquid in the fat cells. It follows from there a swelling of these cells which gives the aspect " skin of orange" by pressure on neighbouring collagen fibers.
