Compiere

Compiere (delivery kompjere) is a Business package integrated (PGI) and Gestion of the client relationship (GRC) with source open: Open source for the Small and medium-size companies (SME) in the distribution and the service. The application is provided under double license LPG and owner. The sources can be adapted to the customer requirements. The customer support and documentation are paying.

Functionalities

Compiere includes the most important functionalities of a PGI , but so as to avoid the duplication of information and the need for making synchronizations, the various modules were organized in a different way. Management tools of production are under development by an independent team. (See the section external bonds for more precise details) .

Structure

Compiere is entirely based on the concept of Active Went back Dictionary (ADD) or active dictionary to data. This one ensures an easy adaptation as well as a coherent sight of the whole of the modules. Compiere is conceived to follow the changes within the company, constantly, the customers, even into context of production can change the structure of information, so as to adjust itself as well as possible with the new needs.

Compiere provides multiple sights of information based on the detail of the real transactions. This structure allows a maximum flexibility and easy integration of any extra information. In addition as information is simply presented like sights, thanks to the architecture of Compiere Model-Sight-Controller (MVC), those can be modified quickly to satisfy new needs.

The Data dictionary of Compiere contains the definitions of the entities of source data (standard, validation, etc), the way in which they are visualized (labels on the screens, reports/ratios, assistance, order of posting and relative position compared to the other fields), just as the rules of posting. It also contains safety regulations and access.

Compiere was also developed using J2EE.

Independence compared to the database

Compiere was criticized a long time to depend entirely on the basic Management system of data (SGBDR) Oracle, and thus not to be pure open source produces, nevertheless, since version 2.5.2, an infrastructure was developed it allows the bearing on other SGBDR. Versions PostgreSQL, and Sybase were already developed.
