Compiegne
Compiegne is a common French, located in the department of the Oise and the area Picardy.
The inhabitants are called the Compiégnoises and Compiégnois .
During the French revolution the city was called Marat-on-Oise.
Geography
The town of Compiegne is located just downstream from the confluence of the rivers Oise and Aisne. It is to 65 km in the north of Paris.
It is limited to the west by Oise, in the east by the national forest of Compiegne, in north by Aisne, the south the limit with Cross-Saint-Ouen is conventional. The district of the station, although on Right Bank of Oise, is located in the Compiegne commune. Of this dimensioned, the remainder of the agglomeration is either with Margny-the-Compiegne or or with Venette (with the shopping mall).

History
At the time Gallo-Roman, Compiegne would be a point of passage on the Oise ( Isara ) connected to the network of minor roads at the border of the territories of Bellovaques (Beauvais) and of Suessions (Soissons). The ford was with the closed locality “it of the pinks”.Compiegne was called Compendium , i.e. “shortened”.
