Company of the casinos of Quebec

The Société of the casinos of Quebec is a subsidiary company of the Québécois company of state Lotto-Quebec (Canada). It has as a mandate to make the management of the three casinos of Quebec, the Casino of Montreal, the Casino of Charlevoix and the Casino of the Lake-Leamy.

History

In December 1992, the Council of Ministers approves the principle of installation of two casinos of State and authorizes the establishment of the first two casinos in Quebec: one on the Notre-Dame Island, in Montreal, and the other with Point-with-Peak, in the area of Charlevoix.

The creation and the management of the casinos of State are entrusted to Lotto-Quebec, which creates three subsidiary companies then: the Company of the casinos of Quebec Inc., in charge with the establishment and the exploitation of the casinos, Restaurant-Casino, whose mandate consists in exploiting the restaurants and the bars of the casinos, and Casiloc, in charge with acquisition, the construction and the management of the equipment.

The Casino of Montreal was inaugurated on October 9th, 1993, in the building which sheltered the House of France during the World Fair of 1967.

In 1994, the Casino of Charlevoix opens its doors in the old theater of summer of the Richelieu Manor, with Point-with-Peak.

The Casino of the Lake-Leamy is the first built casino of all parts. It is inaugurated on March 24th, 1996.

The three casinos of Quebec accommodate today some 10,5 million visitors per year.

Mandate

The Company of the casinos of Quebec Inc. has as a mandate to proceed to the establishment of casinos in Quebec and to ensure management of it.

Economic consequences

  • Nearly 11 million visits (including all the visits (tourist and nontourist) per year
  • Nearly 2,5 million paid visits each year by people remaining outside Quebec
  • a turnover of 758,5 million dollars in 2005-2006
  • a clear benefit of almost 256 million dollars in 2005-2006

In 2005-2006, the casinos of Quebec generated 758,5 million dollars of incomes of play, of which 22% came from their customers except Quebec; these tourist customers in addition generated economic consequences evaluated to 66 million dollars in direct expenditure others that the play.

The turnover of Restaurant-Casino Inc. was of more than 100,9 million dollars during the last exercise.
