Company of protection of the forests against fire

The Société of protection of the forests against fire (SOPFEU) is a deprived organization with nonlucrative goal of the Canadian province of the Quebec in charge of the prevention, detection and extinction of the Forest fires. It functions in public-private Partenariat (PPP) in collaboration with the Government of Quebec. Its business is carried out by a board of directors having representatives of forest industry, owners of wooded deprived and Québécois government.

Resources

The employees are divided in the bases of Bay-Comeau, Roberval, Maniwaki and Valley-with Or like at the head office of Quebec. One finds there mainly Pompier S foresters, agents of protection and Aéropointeur S like all the support and supervisory staff for the operations.

The SOPFEU can count on the deterrent force of the municipal firemen for the combat of forest fires in rural areas and périurbaines. The SOPFEU has recourse also to more than 400 trained and qualified auxiliary combatants. Finally, the SOPFEU can also count on occasional combatants and forest workers to whom it offered a formation beforehand. From the technological point of view, the fleet of tankers Tanker plane CL-215 and CL-415 as well as the Hélicoptère S provided with héliporté tank get an important deterrent force at the time of the initial attack of a fire.
