Company of Arts of Paris

This company, formed the September 6th 1792 on the section of Louvre was made up of students of the Letters and Sciences, pupils of the schools of Right and the Art schools. It ravelled in front of the Legislative Parliament on September 8th, 1792 and was incorporated, with Châlons-in-Champagne, on September 23rd, 1792 with the Battalion 9 (a), said Bataillon of the arsenal. She was dissolved at the end of February 1793. Among the volunteers of this company one can quote some artists: Its captain Jacques Lemercier (sculptor), the second lieutenant Jean-Baptiste Francesqui (sculptor known under the name of Fransechi-Delorme), the warrant officer Louis-François Lejeune (painter), the private Jacques Augustin Catherine Pajou (painter), but also the future economist Jean-Baptiste Say.
