Communist party of Quebec
The Communist party of Quebec was founded in the years 1921. It is resulting from the Communist party of founded Canada in 1921.
The Communist party was known under the name of Parti workman-progressist of 1941 with 1959, following its banishment by the federal authorities. In 1965, the Communist party of Quebec was definitively made up in political party under the Québécois laws, with in the chair Samuel Walsh.
In 2002, the Communist party of Quebec amalgamated with the Party of the socialist democracy (PDS) and the Gathering for the alternative progressist (RAP) in order to form the Union of the forces progressists (UFP). The UFP amalgamated in its turn with the political movement Option citizen in 2006 in order to form the party interdependent Quebec (QS). The Communist party of Quebec constituted nevertheless, until 2005, the Québécois branch of the Communist party of Canada, a schism having occurred between the two entities on the in May 2005 national question.
This schism encouraged the authorities of the communist ex-Party of Quebec to make him again grant the statute of political party authorized in order to preserve their rights on the name of the party. In spite of the recasting of the Communist party of Quebec on paper, the leaders of the party indicated their intention not to introduce candidates at the time of elections, preferring to support the candidates of interdependent Quebec.
