Communist party of Iceland
The Communist party of Iceland ( Kommúnistaflokkur Íslands ) was a Icelandic political party between 1930 and 1938.
History
At the beginning of the year 1920, a group of young militants of the social democrat Parti was put in contact with the international communist movement. Their ideology moved away quickly from that of the social democrats. In November 1922, they formed a distinct section within the party which they called the Association of the young Communists. This association transformed into social democrat Association spartakist in 1926, but separated from the social democrat party in 1928, on request of the Comintern. The Communist party of Iceland (KFI) is officially founded in November 1930 and became member of Comintern. The newspaper of the party was the Verkalýðsblaðið .
In 1938, it amalgamated with another group which had left the social democrat party one year before and became the Parti the unit of the people - Socialist party. This new party left Comintern. The Communists remained however majority within the party and the policy did not differ. In 1956, it formed a named electoral alliance Alliance of the people with another group of dissidents of the social democrat party. Twelve years later, in 1968, the Alliance of the people became a party with whole share.
