Communist committees for self-management

The communist committees for self-management (CCA) are an old French organization of extreme left which existed of 1977 with 1982.

Origin

The CCA were born from the meeting from militants, often student, at the same time trotskystes and self-management. The founding members come generally from two political parties:
  • the Communist revolutionary league (LCR), in particular the crossroads Group, a minority current present almost only in the " sector étudiant". This group, directed in particular by Gilles Casanova (Swanee), was known to be more centered on the social movements like political means of action.
  • the Socialist party unified (PSU), and more exactly its Tendency B. This one corresponded to old the revolutionary Marxist Alliance (AMR) of inspiration pablist. It was directed in particular by Trusting Michel, Gilbert Marquis and Maurice Najman and in student sector inter alia by her brother Charly Najman and of the feminists.

Makings of contact had him in particular in spring 1976 at the time of the strikes against the plan Salt maker-Seité. But the idea to unify in a common movement was born only with the re-entry 1976 and the CCA are officially created only in May 1977. A little later some militants of the Communist Organization of the Workers (OCT.) with in particular Didier Leschi and Michel Taubman join the CCA.

Activity

Politically, the CCA will never develop really. Under certain aspect, they have the more appearance of a “club of intellectuals than D true organization”.

They manage however to develop a real influence in the student trade unionism. They create, in 1979 with the Mouvement of union action (FARMHOUSE) a named self-management tendency self-management Tendance trade unionist (TSA). They are quickly joined by some of the rocardiens which had dispersed after LCR theirs took the direction of the trade union to the congress of Grenoble in 1977. The TSA obtained 20% of the mandates to the congress of 1979. Following year, the CCA, via the TSA take part in the foundation of UNEF-ID. They integrate a broad alliance mitterrandiens, rocardiens and CCA, the self-management Tendance trade unionist trade-union rebuilding. But this one missed unit, indeed, it was neither self-management because it included mitterrandiens nor Socialist because of presence of the CCA. Finally, political logic carried it and the Socialists recut themselves leaving the self-management one in a situation of dangerous weakness. Indeed, with the congress of 1982 they weigh nothing any more but 1,5% of the mandates. But, the CCA manage to maintain a certain influence by obtaining for example the management of the local section of MNEF of Rheims. Mined by the scissions interns, competed with on the ground of self-management by PSA (For a self-management trade unionism), the heirs to the CCA disappear quickly from the authorities leading from the UNEF-ID.

End of the CCA, a series of Scissions

As of 1981, the CCA are lézardent. Tendency I, pablist, decide to refonder AMR (revolutionary Marxist Alliance). They thus leave the CCA. The death-blow is carried in 1982 by the departure of Tendency II. The majority, whose Robi Morder, Patrick Worms or Christophe Ramaux, turn over to LCR. Didier Leschi, resulting him from the OCT., follows, temporarily, this same course. Whereas Gilles Casanova joined the PS. At the end of the Nineties, one will find good a party of the militants of the old CCA, for those which did not join the PS or the Mouvement of the citizens, with the AREV Alternative red and green become since Alternate the.
