the expression “communications theory” is sometimes employed to indicate the concept of Information theory.

The communications theory appeared in the years 1945-1950, at the same time as the Information theory. It aimed then to formalize and model the man-machine relation between the incipient computers and their users, by theorizing and conceptualizing the communication in order to “inculcate it” in the computers.

It is a base of the Cybernétique, which to emphasize this element of communication uses the concept of Block box, which makes it possible to dissociate it from the transmitting or receiving element.
