Two companies give to the commune a certain notoriety: AB Älvsbyhus , manufacturer of houses out of wooden, and Polarbageriet AB , bakery re-elected in all Sweden.

Polarbageriet produces approximately 1.5 million breads per day, which are distributed mainly in Sweden, but from which a part is also exported towards Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

Älvsbyhus is the largest producer of houses prefabricated out of wood of Scandinavia. With the whole of its factories (all not being localized in Älvsbyn), the company produces approximately two houses per day.
