Communalization

Precision on the terms: Communalization/Sociation

Terms introduced by Weber into " Economy and Société" (1920) E&S, p. 41-13. This distinction is derived from that which Tönnies had established between community and company. With the difference of this one, the couple of concepts retained per Weber (Communalization/sociation) does not indicate two types of companies which follow one another historically (traditional companies/modern societies). Communalization is a social relation based on a feeling of appartenace, such as the family or the nation. The sociation rests on an agreement deliberated (rational) on divided intêrets, often fixed by a compromise: the exchange and associations with given goal are examples.
