Commission of Sciences and Arts
The Commission of Sciences and Arts is created on March 16th, 1798; it is composed of 167 members, of which 151 joined the military forwarding of Bonaparte in Egypt. More half are engineers and technicians. They are 21 mathematicians, 3 astronomers, 17 civil engineers, 13 naturalists and mining engineers, as many geographers, 3 engineers of the powders and salpetres, 4 architects, 8 draftsmen, 10 artists mechanics, 1 sculptor, 15 interpreters, 10 men of letters, 22 printers provided with Latin, Greek and Arab natures.
As a soldier, Bonaparte organized his scientific body like an army. It divided the members of forwarding into five categories, assigning with each one a military rank and a definite role (bed, food…) in addition to its scientific function.

So nowadays, some like Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, Monge, Alive Denon or Rodolphe Kreutzer are universally known, the great majority of them were forgotten.
