Commentry (in Occitan Comentric kəmeⁿˈtri) is a common French, located in the department Allier and the area Auvergne.

It is located at 17 km in the south-east of Montlucon.

Personalities related to the commune
Christophe Thivrier born in 1841 died in 1895, miner as of the 13 years age, then oilcan, baker, merchant of wine. It is elected city council man of Commentry in 1874 on a republican list. Elected official mayor of Commentry on June 6th, 1882, he is the first socialist mayor in the world.
