The commandery templière of Beauvais-on-Matha is famous to have been founded in 1151 per Guillaume de Mauzé.
History
Document (AD 86 - 3:1 /212) which is used as a basis for this dating is discussed, because of the obvious anachronisms that it contains, and in particular the fact that two of the characters mentioned like present or alive at the drafting of the act actually died in 1136. The first document considered as authentic date of 1231: it is there question of the commander of Beauvais, Elie brother of tirac or tirac (preceptor of Baszesio), witness for an act concerning the commandery templière of Épeaux with MeursacIn 1295 Guillaume the Court, middle-class man of Beauvais-on-Matha, bequeaths 200 grounds to Templiers of Beauvais, 100 for the local establishment, and 100 for their Holy Land works overseas.
