Comitat of Zagreb

the comitat of Zagreb (in Croatian Zagrebačka županija ) is a Croatian comitat . Since it surrounds the town of Zagreb sometimes one regards it as the metropolitan zone of the Croatian capital. The population of the comitat was of 309.696 inhabitants in 2001.

The comitat is very historical: its chief town, the town of Samobor exists since 1242. Moreover, it was one of the first tourist centers in the area.

Today the economic development and urban of the cities that they belong to him is closely related to Zagreb. Actually, several cities such as Zaprešić, Velika Gorica or Sesvete make already part of Zagreb.

The comitat is bordered by the comitats of Krapina-Zagorje and Varaždin in north, the Comitat de Bjelovar-Bilogora in the east, the Comitat de Sisak-Moslavina in south-east and the Comitat de Karlovac in south-west.
