Celebrates Equivocal
The Fête of the Equivocal is held each 2nd Sunday of October. Tanks traverse the center of the city and on this occasion, of the wood equivocal are launched top of the town hall per hundred. It is a very coveted trophy.“ Louche ” as a Walloon “  means; cuiller ” in French.
There exists much of Légende S on the origin of the festival but this one is one of most known:
There is a Foire the day of St Denis, on October 9th. In same time, one celebrates the festival of the Louche S, from which the tradition teaches us the origin: one had locked up a lord in a tower to withdraw it from the remainder his men and to enjoy sound well. Being made known by the means of a roofer working with the lower part of its dungeon, it threw by the window any sound small spares of wood, with what one was used to him to eat.
Each year, a different, historical or commemorative topic, is selected for the festival; it is illustrated in the procession. This procession is Franco-Belgian; nowadays, it starts in Belgium and finishes on the place of Comines in France. This procession is the occasion for the sporting, associative companies and the various districts to create a tank and to thus take part in historical tables, at the end of this one is “the tank of Damoiselle of the equivocal and its dauphine” (or rather the ladle, because this tank with the shape of a ladle); then, closing walk, the tank of the committee, since which the members of the brotherhood out of dress throw equivocal. The finished procession, crowd gathers with the foot of the town hall. The equivocal are launched since the balcony and the windows of the living room of honor by the members of the Confrérie like by the mayor of Comines France and the Burgomaster of Comines Belgium. To catch the enrubannées equivocal, of which imposing “the Ladle of the mayor” gives right a price.
