Come (group)

Venus is a group of Belgian musicians created in 1997, by five artists of Brussels coming from horizons as dispersed as the pop, the Classical music, the Cinéma or the Théâtre.
Origin
At the beginning, their idea is to gather all these elements under a pop format/rock'n'roll by using only acoustic instruments (Guitare, Contrebasse, percussions, Violon) and being accompanied by a Scénographe (the fifth member Patric Carpentier). This concept made in their first concerts a spectacle whose visual aspect was not without pointing out the Exploding Plastic Inevitable , show that Andy Warhol had concocté for the Velvet Underground in the middle of the years 1960.
History
In 1998 leaves a first EP, Royalsucker EP on the label BMG /RCA. This collaboration will be however of short duration and it is on an Italian label , Sonica Factory, that the first album of the group will leave in October 1999, Welcome To The Modern Dance Hall . Meanwhile, the group occurs with the Printemps of Bourges and gains there the price of the Best Performance Rock'n'roll.Welcome to the Modern Dance Hall receives criticisms eulogistic in the countries of the Bénélux, in France and Italy. If the comparison with the Velvet Underground can be made, it is however not sufficient because Venus has a quite personal emotional pallet, as proves it individual the She' S so Disco , kind of crossover between pop most immediate, Folk traditional, and Disco, single in its kind.
The round which followed lasted nearly one year, until this concert of September 2000 at the time of the festival the Nuits Botany with Brussels where the group, accompanied by a Philharmonic orchestra, presents its songs in a completely réorchestrée form, all the more moving away from the rock'n'roll to approach its theatrical influences. We find here the principal characteristic of the music of Come, a expressivity coming straight of the Théâtre, but which remains very introspective and humble in emotivity that it releases. This exceptional concert will leave under format CD-8 titles in November 2000 under the heading The Man Who Was Already Dead .
The years which followed transfer the bankruptcy of their recording company and the internal tensions to threaten survival of the group. Finally, it is to four, with a new beater, that Venus returns in March 2003 with Vertigone . Left on EMI France, this album wants to be calmer and introspective, following the example Radiohead on the album The Bends . If the instruments are always mainly acoustic, with the orchestrations equip the majority with the pieces, while letting them breathe, as on Running At full speed which begins on a choral society from children. Unfortunately, the distribution of the album is limited to the France and the Belgium.
After its parallel project Little Hotel , Marc Huyghens has Remi Venus on the rails with a new album entitled The Red Room , left in April 2006. As the first extract Add Stars to the Sky let it consider, the sound of the group became more direct there with colorings Blues and well assumed Rock, very far from environments of Vertigone . In order to promote this album, the group launched out in a round which passed by the Belgium, the France, the Spain, the Denmark and the England, the Italy and the Suisse.
In the tread, the group records a EP including/understanding of the resumptions of Daniel Lanois ( O' Marie ), Bjork ( Bachelorette ) and of their famous compatriot Jacques Brel ( Amsterdam ).
In March 2007, whereas a concert is organized with the Ancienne Belgium of Brussels to celebrate the ten years of the group, Marc Hughens surprises his entourage by announcing on the official site of the group the end of Come: “ After 10 years of space flight, exotic adventures, hypnotic concerts, chaotic episodes and ethyl insane-laughter, I chose to eclipse towards other intergalactic adventures ”. The concert of March 23rd with the AB was thus transformed into a great festival of good-bye, during which many guests (among whom Walter Jansen, historical double bass player of the group) came to pay a last homage to Venus.
Among the groups and artists from which Venus divided the poster in round, one can in particular quote Flexy Lyndo, Sharko and Jack the Ripper.
