Combe-Grède

The Combe-Grède is a flanked wild throat of high rock faces located at the south of Villeret. A pedestrian path goes up the bed of a torrent and makes it possible to reach Chasseral. It climbing of the walls by means of metal scales. In winter, the cascades are cold.

Combe-Grède is located in the zone of the regional Park of Chasseral, like in the tourist area Watch Valley.

Path

The path of Combe-Grède was arranged in 1904. It owes its name in Imier-Louis Grède, who made build a smallholding in this area at the 18th century.

In 1839, the combe was put out of close-cropped cut, wood being used to supply the blast furnaces of the forging mills of Undervelier.

Jurassic park of Combe-Grède

A non-profit-making association, the Jurassic Park of Combe-Grède, was created in 1931 in the aim of protection the throat and its surroundings. In 1932, the Bernese Government decided to create a natural reserve of the flora and fauna.

The chamois was reintroduced in 1956, the marmot in 1966.
