Columbidae

The family of the columbidés (or Columbidae ) is the only alive family about the Columbiformes which comprises also the extinct family of the Raphidés (dodo and Solitaire). She includes/understands approximately 300 species of Pigeon S and related (see list below).

They are birds of small size to large (from 17 to 75 cm), with small head, legs and nozzle courts. They have the well developed muscles of the flight. Cosmopolitans, they meet in almost all the terrestrial habitats, of the dense forest to the desert, the cold moderate areas in the tropics.
