Colt 635 SMG
The Pistolet-mitrailleur states-unien Colt 635 SMG (Colt Miss 635) results from the adaption of the Colt Commando with the gauge 9 mm Parabellum. This idea goes back to the years 1970 with the prototypes Atchinston but Colt puts in on sale its model only about 1982. It is bought in minor amount by some police service buildings or federal in the United States. Its main advantage is to be very easily employed by personnel already familiarized with the handling of M16. Its dimensions of compact rifle with a true stick of shoulder and a mechanism drawing closed cylinder head offers an excellent precision to him. Its dimensions of weapon of shoulder makes it cumbersome on the other hand for a modern machine pistol, even if its weight remains in the standard.
The mechanism operated by the retreat is supplied by a charger of 20 or 32 blows and allows the semi-automatic shooting and the automatic shooting. The weapon is thought in order to be able to draw without encumbers balls with soft heads.
In addition to model 635, one counts:
- model 639, equipped with a turntable which following the example M16A2, makes it possible to draw from the gusts of three blows.
- the model 634, which is the version rifle capable of semi-automatic shooting only.
- model 633, equipped with a gun 17,8 cm length court.
