Color saturation light

See also: TSL , HSL , HLS

Dyed, saturation, Light (or Brightness) or TSL ( hoots , saturation , lightness , HSL, or hoots , lightness , saturation , HLS ) is a space of representation of the Couleur S.

Contrary to spaces RVB and CMJN, system HLS is independent of the support. One codes the color according to the angle which corresponds to him on the circle of the colors :

All the intermediate values are possible: for example, 34° corresponds to a color ranging between the red and the yellow, and slightly nearer to the yellow than of the red.

Saturation is the rate of purity of the color (also called purity of excitation) (since 0% which corresponds to the Gris up to 100% for the “pure” color); finally, the light is the brightness (since 0% which corresponds to the Noir up to 100%, for the maximum luminosity permitted by the support). The color has as a physical correspondence the wavelength of the pure color.

It will be noticed that in this space, for a level of gray (saturation = 0), the color is indefinite.
