Colonial zone
The colonial Zone ( Colonial Ciudad Spanish ) is the first colony established by Christophe Colomb and the Spanish explorers in the Nouveau world. This place was registered with the world site of UNESCO
History
The colonial Zone familiarly called “Shingles Colonial”, fact part of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, and the origin of district is gone up at the 16th century. The district is located in the western part of Ozama River, which crosses into two the city. Today, the district covers less than 5 square kilometers. It is an important part of the city due to the great number of sites including Alcazar de Colón, Fortaleza Ozama, Catedral Primada de America and well of others still. The city was surrounded by a defensive wall extending Ozama River with " Puerta del Conde" , which be the only entry towards the back-country and the extreme border of the city until XIXe. The Spanish ones used this colony like the first point of anchoring in Americas and conquered after that more the share of the American grounds. Even if Spanish concentrates plus their attentions on the cities principal after having conquered Mexico, Cuba and other areas of Latin America, the Colonial Zone to remain an important historic site.
The colonial Zone today
“Hold of mow Damas” is the oldest street, going back to 1502. In the Colonial Zone, exists two important retail parks in “Hold del Conde” and “Avenida Duarte”. Each one has of stores and coffees. Avenida Duarte is the shopping mall local and is currently in restoration in order to make the zone gravitational to the tourists. The Plaza of Hispanidad recently restored is bordered by Las Atarazanas, place characterized by small stores and some restaurants. This zone was one of the first shopping malls in America and remains today still a center of activity. Alcazar de Colón builds in 1510, was the colonial palate of the family of Christophe Volombe and is nowadays a museum of temporary exhibitions for furniture and decoration.

The majority of the reference marks and cultural places of the colonial zone were set up during the colonial period according to the Spanish decrees and of which much of them needs to be renovated and maintained in the state (the names are in Spanish)-
