Colonial Center

The Colonial Center is a general sports room located at Columbia in the state of South Carolina. It is more the big room of the state and the 10th more university big room of the country. The arena is especially used for the matches of Basket-ball, the concerts, the conferences and the ceremonies of handing-over of the graduates. Colonial Center is sponsored by Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company off Columbia, a division of the company Unum based with Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Its principal tenants are the teams male and female of Basket-ball of the University off South Carolina, the South Carolina Gamecocks. In 2007, a team of American football in room of the National Indoor Football League, the Columbia Stingers, settles in this enclosure. Its capacity is of 18.000 places with 41 continuations from luxury, 4 hospitality continuations and 1 entertainment continuation.

History

Colonial Center opens its doors the November 22nd 2002 with a match of opening of female Basket-ball. The team of South Carolina overrides Clemson, 72-58, in front of 17,712 fans. The official unveiling of the building with place the December 2nd 2002 with a match of male Basketball between Gamecocks and the Temple Owls, Gamecocks is essential 66 to 47. Its cost of construction was of $64 million USD.

Colonial Center was classified 22e in the world for the sales of ticket in 2003 with 216.679 sold tickets (according to PollStar Magazine).
