Colonia LED Sacramento

Colonia LED Sacramento is a city of the south-west of the Uruguay, capital of the department Colonia. It is also more the old city of the country.

History

Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese, Colonia was part of the territory then claimed by the Spanish immigrants who were with Buenos Aires on other bank of the Río of Plata (money river). The city thus changed country during the treaties which were signed between Portugal and Spain like that of Madrid in 1750 or that of San Ildefonso into 1777 which placed the city under Spanish control. It was again taken again by the Portuguese then later by the Brésiliens. Finally, when Uruguay took its independence in 1825 it became the capital of the Colonia department.

Today, the city extended towards the east and a very clear difference is visible between the Portuguese historical quarters whose streets are disorganized and the districts built by the Spanish architects whose streets all are orthogonal.
