Collet (tooth)
See also: Collet
The collet of the Dent is the part in extreme cases between the crown and the root. It is thus the part located just at the junction with the Gencive.
One can distinguish:
- the anatomical collet, in extreme cases enters the crown and the root
- the physiological collet, with the limit between apparent part and hidden part. The physiological collet can evolve/move with the age, either following a égression of the tooth compensating for a wear, or following a recession parodontale.
Pathologies
Pathologies are rather frequent on this level:- Decays. This zone is rather difficult to clean because of its anatomy: the collet is in hollow. It is thus necessary to use a flexible Brosse with teeth with a adequate method.
- dentinal Over-sensitiveness. The Cément which protects the root is very fine. This zone will be thus easily sensitive.
- Mylolyse . The mylolyse is a wear of the tooth which is not related to the decay. It is due to the association of several factors: important forces occlusales (Bruxisme) or not physiological; too vigorous and horizontal brushing.
- gingival Recessions or recessions parodontales. This one involves a denudation of the collet. The etiology is virtually identical to that of the mylolyse. The reaction depends on the individual.
