Collet-of-Dèze

Geography

Collet-with-Dèze is a common French, located in the south (the Cevennes) of the department of the Lozere and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Collétains.

History

The current borough is the meeting of four villages: the Collet, Dourdon, Dèzes and the Country house. The hamlet of Dèzes is dominated by old “the castrum” which gave its name to the country of Dèzes of which it was the chief town. The existence of a habitat goes back to Celtic times.

The Réforme gained all this country as of 1561 and the near total of the population embraced the new religion. The revocation of the Edict of Nantes and persecution involved the apparent conversion of the population which continued to be assembled; for the period of the “Deserted ” in isolated places of the borough: small valley of Meyrières, Plau of the Bayonets, “Ronc de Prego Diou” Big events of the XIX {{E}} and 20th century:

  • Construction of RN 106, years 1880, that of the Departmental railroad (C.F.D) of co. Cecile d' Andorge with Florac, in 1906 (closing of the line in 1968).
  • Construction of the school complex H. Gamala with boarding school and of an old people's home medicalized of 40 beds.
