Collegial Saint-Pierre of Angers

Foundation

A debate ran a long time to Angers to determine which of Saint-Pierre or Saint-Maurice was the building of the oldest worship of the city; the question was of order hierarchical to know which took precedence over the other. Since work of Luce PiƩtri ( cf Bibliography), one knows that the first Christian building of Angers is the cathedral and not Saint-Pierre.

If the date of construction of the original building is unknown, the '' Vita S. Maurilii Ia '' informs us that this church existed already time of the bishop Maurille, i.e. between 423 and 453.
