College of Presles
The college of Presles is a college of old the Université of Paris.
It was founded in 1314 with the Collège of Laon by a clerk, Guy de Laon, treasurer of the Ste Chapelle, and laic, Raoul de Presles, lord of Lizy, legist to the service of the king. The schoolboys of Laon and those of Presles, equipped with 300 pounds annual rent, are thus installed together on the Holy-Genevieve mountain, between the streets of Close-Bruneau and Saint-Hilaire.
The two colleges separate ten years later.
In XVIe century, the college of Presles and that of Beauvais, which is separate only by one wall, approach still more one of the other so that the main thing of Presles Pierre Laramée, famous under the name of Ramus, gets along with Orner Heel, the main thing of Beauvais, so that a door is open between the two courses respective. Ramus, former student of the College of Navarre, then main of logic àu College of Ave-Maria, started by showing that Aristote is not infallible, but by posting same independence from the religious point of view of the Reform; also Antoine de Gouvéa, barbist of this time, it denounced the impious and seditious tendencies of the writings and the lessons of this Master, to which Henri II prohibited the teaching of philosophy.
The principality of Presles passes from Medard Bourgeotte to Quentin Hoyau, who yields in 1616 to Jean Granger, the main thing of Beauvais, the direction of the exercise of the classes during his life, and the partition wall is thrown low between the two colleges: their temporal does not remain less distinct about it. The year 1640, Granger resigns the honors of the general superiority between the hands of Antoine Moreau, the main thing of Presles, successor of Charles Morel. The principal last of Presles are: Louis Levasseur (1693); Pierre Raboeuf (1703); Millet (1713); Simon Derveau, doctor in Sorbonne (1720).
The college is joined together with the Louis-the-Large Collège in 1763. In 1781, there was with Louis-the-Large eighteen stock-brokers of Presles, the goods of this old college bringing back 11,169 francs then. Finally the Nation sold with the biddings, Thermidor 3 year IV, the buildings of the removed establishment.
