College of Navarre

The college of Navarre was founded in 1304 with Paris thanks to Jeanne de Navarre. Marry Philippe Beautiful the, it bequeaths its hotel of the street Saint-Andre-of-Arts to establish a college intended there to receive students of his province.

The entry could be open about it, without age or , origin family, any poor French which intended for the study Grammaire, Logique or Théologie (other than medicine and of the right).

The establishment is directed, as of the origins, by a large Master supervising the studies of the boarders.

Its vault was useful for the offices and services of the Nation of France of faculty of arts. Y was preserved motié of a coast of Guillaume Saint of Bourges, which was given in 1407 per Jean, duke of Berry, in Jean Archer, prosecutor of the Nation of France.

Removed with the Revolution, it is in the unused buildings of the College of Navarre, street of the Mountain-Holy-Genevieve and the Collège of Boncourt that the Polytechnic school in 1794 settled. The buildings were demolished the ones after the others. In particular the entry in 1811, and the medieval building of the library, destroyed in second half of XIXe in the general indifference.
