College of Coqueret

The college of Coqueret was founded about the middle of the 15th century by Nicolas Coqueret, priest of Amiens. It was located on the Montagne Holy-Genevieve, in old the Hôtel of Burgundy. Geoffroy Tory was regent in 1530, Jean Dorat became about it the principal one towards 1547.

The courses of astronomy and medicine were famous there. Pierre de Ronsard, Jean Antoine de Baïf, Jean Dorat, Rémy Belleau, Jacques Duvergnac, Alvarus Thomas and Domingo de Soto (1494-1560) there made their studies.

The college of Coqueret was, at the beginning of the 16th century, located dead end of Coquerêts, at the end is current street of the Rose trees.
