College Saint-Alexandre

the College Saint-Alexandre is a secondary school private located at Gatineau, in Outaouais, with the Quebec.

The establishment, which was formerly reserved to the boys, decided a few years ago to become mixed. The College offers an education of higher level, just as a life stimulative coed and serious sporting programs, which attracts pupils of the surrounding cities of Hull, Gatineau, Chelsea, Cantley, Aylmer, Ottawa Buckingham and Masson-Angers.

History

The original building was built in 1850 by Alonzo Wright and was used mainly as manor where festivals were organized.

Alonzo Wright dies in 1894, and after the death of his wife in 1904, the field is bought by priests Jesuits fleeing the Laïcisation in France under the government of Emile Combes. They transformed the manor into institution of private education in which they gave traditional training courses until approximately half of the 20th century.

In 1912, the name of College Saint-Alexandre was given to him officially. Since, the priests ceased giving courses. Today, the College Saint-Alexandre offers a teaching in conformity with the requirements of the Minister of education, leisures and sport of the Government of Quebec. It is each year classified very well in the prize list of the secondary schools of Quebec.

Symbols

The currency of the College Saint-Alexandre is Vitam Impedere Vero . It comes from the Latin poet Juvenal and means " To devote its life to the vérité". This year the watchword is " The respect initially ".

Life coed

What makes the characteristic of the College Saint-Alexandre is his very great range of coeds activities. The College indeed has a sporting, cultural and social animation very diversified. To the social status, the students are invited each year to belong to a large theater company (the Social Theater, or more commonly called the TS) which gives 4 representations at the end of May. Social animation also offers to the students to make party of several groups, of which the Without-Borders, the green Onions (ecology), Amnistie international, Devine which comes to dine, a coop, etc For the sports, 5 disciplines are offered: the tennis shoe ball, the volleyball ball, the soccer and badminton, as well as Rugby lately. All these teams play under the same name, the Titans. In the field of the cultural one, there are a theater company (TC), social courses of dance, evenings artistic (evening of Alex), etc

1st with the 4th secondary, the students can present themselves to be a president or vice-president of their class within the school Council studied. This one is managed by the student council of the 5th secondary, composed of a sporting adviser, of a cultural adviser, a social adviser, a secretary-treasurer (also vice president) and of a president.
