College Chevrollier (Angers)

The general high school and technological Chevrollier or School residence Chevrollier are a Lycée of State of the academy of Nantes. Located in the district Fayette-Éblé at Angers, it extends on a space from 12 Hectare S. Gathering nearly 2.000 Lycéen S and approximately 500 professors, it is the largest college of the Département of Maine-et-Loire and the Pays of the Loire.

History

  • 1833 : Promulgation of the law Guizot ordering at the cities of more than 5000 hearts to create a higher elementary school

  • November 1st, 1839: creation of direction of the ERS of Angers, street Short today street of the Museum

  • 1844 : Mr Jean-Joseph Chevrollier (1810-1891), director of a private school, sees himself entrusting, the additional expenditure and provisional of " the Elementary school supérieure" from Angers, installed in old the " Hotel of Godeline" , street of the Large Heel, which will become the street Plantagenêt.

  • 1845 : fusion of " the Supérieure" Elementary school; from Angers with the private school of Mr Chevrollier.

  • 1882 : annexation with an elementary school and creation of " the Council school of Supérieur" Primary school education; with industrial formation.

  • 1904 to 1905: following a lack of place, transfers from the school places Academy

  • 1941 : name change for " Modern municipal college and technique"

  • May 28th, 1944: destruction following the bombardments and creation of the first buildings in prefabricated

  • between 1944 and 1955: wandering of the establishment enters the street of Censerie, the street Dacier and Arts and Trades.

  • June 28th, 1955: beginning of the construction of the 2, rue Adrien-Recouvreur establishment decided not the Morin prefect on a park of 9 hectares

  • September 15th, 1959: openings of the doors of the " College nationalized Chevrollier" with annexation of the " Training college Masculin" street of Censerie.

  • 1960 : inauguration by the Minister for Lucien state education Pays " College of État"

  • 1963 : the " College nationalized Chevrollier" becomes the " college of State Chevrollier"

  • 2004 : beginning of the rehabilitation and starting of project REVIVAL. The " college of State Chevrollier" becomes " Chevrollier" school residence;

  • 2008 : end of the rehabilitation

Structure

Site of the place of the Academy

Founded at the 17th century, the Academy of Horsemanship is rebuilt between 1751 and 1761 by the Voglie architect. Transformed at the 19th century into barracks of infantry, the building is then affected in 1905 at the higher elementary school Chevrollier. Damaged in 1944 by bombardments, the building is shaved and completely rebuilt on another plan by the architect André Mornet to be the barracks of the firemen; the remaining posterior parts date from the 19th century, but largely remade. Construction of the 18th century, it remains only the drawing of the fence with its two houses of entry.

Post-war period

The current building is the vast construction with three bodies out of U, most important in Angers of the architecture of the Rebuilding after 1945. Excluded the covers with long slate sides of local nature, very representative of the modern traditional tendencies of the architecture of the years 1950 when appears particularly the influence of Auguste Perret like appears guardian of a whole side of French architecture.

The standard of environmental High-quality/Project REVIVAL

Project REVIVAL (Retrofiting for Environmental Viability Improved off Valued Architectural Landmarks) relates to simultaneously eight tertiary buildings in six countries of the European Community. The Chevrollier city will be the witness of the constructive solutions making it possible to limit the gas emissions to greenhouse effect within the framework of work of rehabilitation. This rehabilitation will integrate also new technologies through a powerful data-processing network (1000 stations, 2 Téra bytes of storage, 5 waiters, virtual office for each pupil, multi-media posting by zone.)
