Collectors Club off New York
The Collectors Club off New York is a philatelic association , founded in 1896 with New York, with the the United States.
Its goals are the promotion of the collection of stamps as a Loisir, and the development of the means of knowledge of the philatelic discipline.
If the majority of the members reside at the North-East of the United States, the fame of Collectors Club also attract collectors and authors of national and international scale. The creator of the catalogs '' Scott '', James Walter Scott, is one of the founding members. In first half of the 20th century, among its principal members, Alfred Lichtenstein and Theodore Steinway ensure the development of the club. Among the honorary members, are the president Franklin Delano Roosevelt and James Lindsay, 26 {{E}} count de Crawford.
Each year, since 1952, association gives the Alfred F. Lichtenstein Memorial Award for Distinguished Service to Philately to the philatelists whose work made progress in an important way philately.
The seat of Collectors Club is a building of five floors, located on the 35e street, in Murray Hill. Its appearance is due to the architect Stanford White in 1902. It accommodates the club since 1938 thanks to a donation of Lichtenstein, as well as an important philatelic library of approximately 150.000 works.
