Collectives of May 29th

The collective of May 29th indicate the collectives made up at the origin by the Appel of the 200. Those met throughout the countryside for “not” with the European Constitutional treaty (TCE) and created a unit dynamics where parties, associations, trade unions, citizens worked together to discuss and explain the contents of this treaty, while integrating the European and French problems institutional and political. There were many local collectives, and the step of argumentation on the basis of article of the TCE (proposed since 2004) was diffused.

After the victory of “not”, the collectives tried to prolong unit dynamics, in order to fight the mondialized Néolibéralisme and to be opposed to the adoption of the TCE under certain conditions. By the confrontation of the values, reports and proposals, they proposed an alternative to the neoliberalism, by the anti-liberal Charte. The adoption of this unit text was évênement political major for “not of left pro-European and anti-liberal”.

The collectives of May 29th also organized an explanation campaign against the Directive Bolkestein and for another Europe, as well as many local initiatives. In 2007, part of the united collectives chose to support the candidature of Jose Bove for the presidential election.
