Collective protection

The collective protections are those which aim at drawing aside the Salarié danger , thus decreasing the Risque. They are technical measures such as for example:

Kind of measurements

For the mechanical risks

  • protective grills fixed or removable
  • the immaterial barriers (or scanners) which form a virtual grate
  • the sensitive carpets…

For the ergonomic risk

  • a Encoffrement of the noisy zones
  • a manipulator to avoid the wearing of heavy loads

For the chemical risk

  • automatic feeding of the products (without human intervention)

These devices can be connected to the circuit (emergency stop), which puts the machine in safety in the event of crossing. They can also start a stop machine (stop cycles, which does not isolate energies).

Constraints of collective protection

  • to be effective, they must move away physically or in time the employee of the source of danger (if the danger is far, it does not have there a risk)
  • while being effective, they do not owe " empêcher" to work on the equipment: that means that they must be compatible with a normal use of the equipment. If they are not it or if they are too constraining, the employees of production or maintenance will be tempted to decontaminate the device, thus returning no one the effort of prevention.

In any event, it is preferable to set up protections in collaboration with the users.
