Collatéral is a thriller and an American action film carried out by Michael Mann and left in 2004.

Synopsis

After having deposited Annie, a procureure, which left him its calling card, max, driver of Taxi, agrees to take a customer, Vincent, for five races. Vincent claims that it has five people to see to conclude a real contract in the night. But, the first falls, dead, on the roof of the taxi. Vincent decides to make use of max to spice his contract of Hired killer.

In parallel, two inspectors of the police force of Los Angeles begin their investigation. The killed first was to testify in a lawsuit against a gangster which opens the following day, and whose prosecutor is Annie.

Comment

The film holds in the confrontation of the two main characters. Vincent is cold, methodical and terribly logic. Max is an idealistic dreamer who has driven his taxi for twelve years, with his project of Limousine S with driver at the head.

The intrigue takes place in the town of Los Angeles, of Nuit. The night in which many characters change identity: men hearing the calls using max, leave the enlightened avenue where they went, penetrate in the lane sinks to steal it rather than to help it. The change of max during this night spent in the city confirms the impression which the night is an important component of the intrigue. But it is on appearances that Michael Mann will focus himself. Indeed none the characters to the appearance of the role which it occupies. When it enters in scene the Fannings agent has more the air of a Hispanic gangster because of his haircut, its chain around the blow, its earrings. It is the same for Vincent: its way of holding its weapon should say some to us long on his past, and yet…
