Collar of the Walnut tree

The collar of the Walnut tree is a collar separating the valleys from the Champsaur and of the Dévoluy in the Hautes-Alpes of an altitude of 1.664 m, it is located between the Peak Ponsin and the Head of Tourneau.

It is characterized by a slope very abrupt Champsaur side, and relatively flat Dévoluy side.

The road of the collar remains closed nearly 6 months per annum because of snowing up and to frequent stone falls. On the other hand, the summer the collar is relatively attended in particular by tourists, but also by the cyclists who find a good ground of drive there.

At the top is a Refuge Napoleon reconverted in bar-restaurant-memory.
