Collar of the Sickle

The collar of the Sickle is a road Col of mountain culminating with 1323 Mètre S of Altitude in the Massif of the Jura. It owes its name with its silhouette in the shape of sickle when it is seen since its slope lemanic.

It is in the Département of Ain in France, near the Suisse, in the Pays of Gex. The collar connects the towns of Gex and Morez (the Jura) by Russet-red the ( RD 1005 , in the past RN 5). The collar is located at 8,5 km of Mijoux.

During the rise since Gex, it is possible to see on the roadsides the Fontaine Napoleon. Once arrived in top, it is possible to make Alpine skiing, in the station of Mijoux it Faucille. This station with Lélex - Crozet form the field of Mounts the Jura (30 ski lift, 50 km of tracks, 35 tracks). Low, in direction of Saint-Claude, is the station of Cross-country skiing of the Vattay with 140 km of tracks. The site of Vattay is also used for international competitions.
