Collar of the Mount-Cenis
The collar of the Mount-Cenis (in Italian adhesive del Moncenisio ) to 2.081 meters of altitude is located at the top of the valley of the Maurienne, within the Massif of the Mount-Cenis.
It connects Lanslebourg-Mount-Cenis in France to the North-West with Suse in Italy in south-east. It was used as border between the two countries until 1947 and the Traité of Paris, but is located from now on completely in France.
Since the construction of the stopping and the creation of the Lake of the Mount-Cenis, the point of passage highest of the road rises to 2.094 m, in the plan of Fontainettes, near the pyramid being used as vault and of the alpine botanical garden. At the time of its passage, Napoleon I {{er}} made increase the old people's home of the 9th century.
The collar is closed during the winter because of extremely uneven sound, and this in spite of its relative low altitude for a collar of Maurienne.
