Collar of Izoard

The collar of Izoard is located in the Hautes-Alpes, in the middle of the Massif of Queyras, at an altitude of 2361 Mr. It connects Briançon to the North-West with Castle-City-Old woman in south-east.

It is frequently borrowed by the Tour de France cyclist and is famous for the place called Deserted Casse on the southernmost slope. It is about an extremely rocky zone (pitons of cargneules), that some describe like lunar.

The road was open in 1893 by the general Baron-Bank, to whom is dedicated the memorial set up in 1934. Practically opposite this monument, two plates are affixed on a rock with the glory of Louison Bobet and Fausto Coppi. At the top, it is possible to benefit from a relay cyclotouristic and to visit the museum.
