Coldplay

Coldplay is a group of alternative Rock English formed with London in 1998, the group includes/understands the singer/pianist Chris Martin, the guitarist Jonny Buckland, the bass player Guy Berryman and the beater Will Champion. Coldplay was nominated three times for Mercury Prize: in 2000,2003 and finally in 2005. Coldplay is one of business successes of the new millenium, with more than 30 million sold albums. The group is also known for its titles individual, such as " Speed off Sound " and " Clocks " who gained a Grammy Award.

Beginnings

The group is formed between September 1996 and January 1997 with the University College London . Will Champion is the last to join the group on January 8th, 1998 (whereas it had never touched a battery of his life) while Chris Martin and Jon Buckland meets as of September 1996.

The name Coldplay was given by a mutual friend of the FAC which had to him also a group. He wanted to call his Coldplay group but found this name too depressing, the members of the future Coldplay group adored this name and chose to keep it.

May 18th, 1998, Coldplay publishes 500 specimens of a disc 3 titles: Safety . 50 specimens are really sold, the others being given to fans and friends. Today, it is necessary to count 3000 euros to get a specimen of this rare disc…

April 26th, 1999, the group leaves a new disc three titles: Brothers & Sisters , with 2500 specimens. This production enables them to be diffused with the radio on BBC and to sign a contract with the label Parlophone.

The October 11th 1999, Parlophone leaves a disc 5 titles Coldplay to 5000 specimens: The Blue Room .

Parachutes

Coldplay starts to work on their first album in November 1999. Left in March 2000, individual the Shiver returns in the signal 40 English (in place 35) and the title profits from some diffusions on MTV.

June 2000 marks really the beginning of Coldplay: individual the Yellow places fourth of the British hit-parade and the public discovers the group. The album Parachutes leaves the July 10th 2000 and places number 1 of the sales of English albums as of its exit. Two other individual leaves in 2005: Fix You in September and Talk in December. A world tour Twisted Logic Tour follows the exit of the album; it begins in June 2005 to finish in July 2006.

The group gains a Grammy Awards for the best song of the year, Speed off Sound .

In spite of the success of the album, the critics find it succeeded less than the precedent has off Rush Blood to the Head .

Prospekt

The successor of X&Y is announced for 2008, next album which should be different, entitled " Prospekt" it should be percussion. Four titles are already known: The Butterfly , Mining one the moon , Bucket for has crown and The fall off Man .

They call upon Brian Eno (former member of Roxy Music which produced John Cale ( Words For The Dying then Wrong Way Up ), U2 (in collaboration with Daniel Lanois for the albums The Unforgettable Fire , The Joshua Tree , Achtung Baby , Zooropa and All That You Can' T Leave Behind ). As much to say that this album should be of very an other quality, compared to what we let us know of Coldplay, but however very interesting because Brian Eno is always thorough towards research, the experimentation, the opening to all the forms of music and of Article This new album was recorded besides in Spain.

Coldplay is a committed group which defends certain ideas. The members of the groups support Amnesty International.

Chris Martin is a burning defender of the equitable trade , or to fair trade in English. One can see it carrying a bracelet Make Trade Fair during his public appearances. The melody of Talk is a recovery of that of Computerlove of the group electro German Kraftwerk, Kraftwerk is credited besides as type-setter with the piece. Moreover, it appears in an episode of the series the Experts: Manhattan .

Coldplay has much success to the cinema, in particular near the actor Zach Braff. Indeed Warning Sign is the song headlight of the film The Last KIS and Don' T Panic the first song in Garden State . Coldplay is also present musicalement speaking in some episodes about Scrubs.
