Coil bicycle

Roue of bicycle is a work of the artist Marcel Duchamp, created with Paris in 1913. Composed of metal and painted wood, it is about a Roue of bicycle (without tire) fixed by its fork on a stool out of wooden. Original work was lost, and Marcel Duchamp created counterparts with the beginning of the year 1960.

Using manufactured objects, it created thus the first Ready-made, in an approach which consists in diverting objects manufactured to make works of art of them, which gave rise to many current artistic steps.

Its second work objet trouv3e will be the Carry-bottles , bought with BHV of Paris, its third work objet trouv3e will be its famous Fontaine (1917), a Urinoir out of porcelain reversed and signed “R. Mutt 1917”

By the integration of the movement (the wheel can turn), Roue of bicycle is also regarded as one of the first works of the Kinetic art, and returns to former work of the artist on the Mouvement and its decomposition ( Nu descending a staircase ).
